Patrick Lerte, the Member of the County Assembly for Porro Ward in Samburu County, passed away on Sunday, December 28. Elected in 2022, he served the ward for just over two years.

• Mr. Lerte was confirmed dead via an internal memo from Fred Lenapeer, the Samburu County Assembly Clerk.
• He was first elected on an Amani National Congress (ANC) ticket and later became part of the ruling coalition after ANC merged with President William Ruto's United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
• At the time of his death, he chaired the County Assembly Committee on Lands and Physical Planning and was known as a dedicated public servant.
• Mr. Lerte had been receiving treatment at Maralal Referral Hospital for an undisclosed illness.
