- Basic Education Principal Secretary Julius Bitok stated that over 50,000 learners applied to fewer than 20 top-tier schools, each with an average capacity of about 500 students.
- A second revision exercise, running from January 6 to January 9, 2026, will allow affected learners to apply for alternative institutions, particularly targeting public C1 schools in remote areas with available capacity.
