The family of 14-year-old Benjamin Maingi Syombua is desperately searching for him after he disappeared from Kerugoya three days ago. His disappearance occurred after his parents informed him they could not afford to send him to the secondary school he desired due to high tuition costs.

• Benjamin went missing after collecting his KJSEA exam results from Kaitheri Primary School on Tuesday.
• His mother, Rachel Syombua, stated, “Alitoka huku on Tuesday, siku ya Jumanne alikuwa anaendea result at Kaitheri Primary School. Alienda kitu kama saa mbili akafika vizuri lakini kutoka aendee hajarudi kutoka Tuesday, alifika shule na akachukua na hajulikani alienda wapi mpaka wa leo.”
• Benjamin had been admitted to Kianyaga and Kerugoya Mbaricho schools but strongly preferred Mbaricho; his parents planned to send him to Kianyaga due to financial constraints.
• Students who sat the KJSEA exams are expected to begin reporting to secondary school on January 12.
