The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has alerted the public about the sale of adulterated and export-bound fuels in the local market after identifying ten non-compliant petroleum sites during inspections conducted between October and December 2025.
- EPRA performed 4,394 fuel quality tests at 967 petroleum sites, with 1.03 percent failing to meet regulatory standards.
- Violations included selling diesel adulterated with domestic kerosene, offering export-bound diesel locally, and transporting high-sulfur diesel, with one station, Meridian Fuels Filling Station, reopening after paying Ksh. 140,144 in penalties.
- The EPRA urged the public to report suspected cases of fuel adulteration via their hotline, USSD code (*363#), and SMS service code (40850).
