A petition has been filed in the High Court seeking to ban Nairobi's public service vehicles (matatus) from playing loud music, claiming it violates commuters' constitutional rights.

• Lawyer Samwel Barongo Nyamari initiated the petition, accusing the Matatu Owners Association (MOA), National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), and the Attorney General of failing to protect the public.
• Nyamari argues that loud music in matatus constitutes psychological torture and noise pollution, affecting vulnerable groups like children, the elderly, the sick, and individuals with autism.
• The petition cites violations of the right to a clean environment (Article 42), freedom and security of the person (Article 29), and consumer rights (Article 46) under the Constitution.
