Over 190 graduates from the Technical University of Kenya (TUK) have sued the Land Surveyors’ Board (LSB) after being banned from taking the Land Law Examination and obtaining professional licensing, arguing the decision is unlawful.

• The suit, filed in the High Court in Nairobi, challenges the LSB’s decision which uniformly affects all holders of a Bachelor of Technology in Land Surveying from TUK.
• Fredrick Gituma John instituted the case on his own behalf and for other affected degree holders, naming the Land Surveyors’ Board as the respondent.
• The applicants contend the ban violates their right to fair administrative action and threatens their livelihoods, with other interested parties including TUK and the Commission for University Education (CUE).
