The Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) has approved a pay rise for Kenyan national government civil servants, backdated to July 1, 2025, at a cost of Sh2.06 billion for the 2025/2026 financial year. This marks the first phase of the Fourth Remuneration and Benefits Review Cycle covering 2025/2026 to 2028/2029.

• The review covers basic salary and leave allowance, with a new basic salary structure and revised leave allowance to be implemented.
• SRC maintained the existing house allowance framework, categorizing duty stations into three clusters: Cluster 1 for Nairobi City, Cluster 2 for other cities and major municipalities, and Cluster 3 for all other areas.
• Entertainment, extraneous, and domestic servant allowances were consolidated into a single Salary Market Adjustment (SMA).
• The directive, conveyed by Acting Commission Secretary and CEO Margaret Njoka, supersedes all previous advisories on remuneration structures for civil servants.
