Migori Senator Eddy Oketch has filed a petition to remove Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna from his position as Secretary-General of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), seeking his de-whipping and removal from all parliamentary committees. The petition, dated Monday, January 5, and addressed to ODM leader Oburu Odinga, accuses Sifuna of gross misconduct and sabotaging the party.

• Oketch alleges Sifuna violated party rules by associating with rival political parties and defying ODM’s decision to work within a broad-based government.
• The petition also claims Sifuna unlawfully usurped the party leader’s powers by negotiating political coalitions and disclosed confidential party affairs, including 2022 presidential campaign funding.
• Oketch requests Sifuna’s immediate suspension, de-whipping from parliamentary positions, or disciplinary proceedings that could lead to his expulsion.
