The National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK) has officially distanced itself from prophet David Owuor's teachings, strongly advocating for medical treatment over faith healing and supporting the regulation of religious institutions.

• NCCK Chairperson Elias Otieno stated, "We believe in faith healing, but it is God who heals not pastors. Nobody should be denied access to established medical treatments for their health."
• The stance comes amid public concern and an investigation ordered by Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale into claims made by Prophet Owuor regarding miraculous cures for diseases like HIV.
• The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) warned against abandoning prescribed medical treatments for unproven alternatives, emphasizing that "matters of health and life must remain firmly grounded in science, ethics and evidence-based medicine."
