The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has officially ruled out foul play in the death of former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo, concluding he died in a tragic road accident. A multi-agency probe determined the incident, which occurred in the early hours of December 13, 2025, was a head-on collision on the Nairobi–Nakuru Highway.

• Jirongo, aged 64, was traveling to his rural home when his vehicle collided with a Climax Coach bus.
• The DCI’s investigation included interviewing eyewitnesses, analyzing CCTV footage from the Eagol Petrol Station, and processing the accident site.
• Statements were recorded from National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, and politicians Rebman Malala and Ibrahim Sambuli, who were with Jirongo hours before the crash.
• The investigative file will now be forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) for further action.
