President William Ruto has launched the NYOTA Project Business Start-Up Capital disbursement in the Rift Valley, allocating Ksh.235,575,000 to empower young entrepreneurs. This initiative aims to provide vital capital to thousands of youths across six counties, fostering job creation and business expansion.
- A total of 9,423 youths from Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Trans-Nzoia, Turkana, and West Pokot counties will each receive Ksh.25,000.
- The funds will be disbursed with Ksh.22,000 for business operations via Pochi La Biashara Wallet and Ksh.3,000 for savings in a Haba Na Haba account under NSSF.
- The project was lauded by Cabinet Secretary for Cooperatives and MSMEs Development Wycliffe Oparanya as the "largest youth job creation exercise in Kenya’s history."
- County governors pledged to waive business licenses and cess charges, and provide additional enterprise development funds to support NYOTA beneficiaries.
