The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has closed its prosecution case against Paul Nthenge Mackenzie, the alleged leader of the Shakahola massacre, and 96 co-accused at the Shanzu Law Courts. This marks the second case closed against Mackenzie, with charges related to radicalization and organized crime, following a previous case on crimes against children.

• 96 witnesses testified, and nearly 500 exhibits were presented in the case, which began on July 8, 2024.
• Paul Nthenge Mackenzie, through the Good News International (GNI) Church, is accused of systematic indoctrination over more than a decade.
• Followers were reportedly instructed to cut ties with society and reject healthcare between 2020 and 2023.
