President William Ruto has reappointed Reverend Dr. Stephen Mairori as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) for a new three-year term, effective January 20, 2026. Mairori previously led NACADA through significant policy and operational changes, focusing on prevention and regulatory enforcement.

• Under Mairori's previous leadership, NACADA implemented a Community-Based Rehabilitation framework, diverting non-violent drug offenders to treatment.
• During his tenure, alcohol control measures were introduced, including bans on online alcohol sales and proposals to raise the minimum legal drinking age from 18 to 21.
• The authority strengthened partnerships with religious leaders and established alcohol-free buffer zones around schools, churches, and hospitals.
• NACADA also received recognition for financial accountability at the 2024 Financial Reporting (FiRe) Awards.
