Uganda's Jacob Kiplimo secured his third consecutive men's crown at the World Cross Country Championships, completing a hat-trick over 10 kilometers in a winning time of 28 minutes 18 seconds. This achievement places him among an elite group of athletes to win three world cross country titles in a row.

• Kiplimo defeated Ethiopia's Berihu Aregawi, who finished 18 seconds behind, with Kenya's Daniel Ebenyo taking third place in 28:45.
• Kiplimo, who is also the reigning Chicago Marathon champion, stated his intention to focus on marathon running, suggesting this might be his last World Cross Country Championship.
• In the women's event, Kenya's Agnes Ngetich, the world 10km record holder, claimed the title in 31:28 over 10km, securing Kenya's 10th consecutive women's crown in the event.
