Eliud Owalo, Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of Delivery and Government Efficiency, has declared his intention to contest the presidency in the 2027 General Election. He made the announcement during the 106th commemoration of his grandfather's passing in Oboch, Kisumu County.

• Owalo, who has previously worked with prominent political figures and currently serves under President William Ruto, emphasized a shift towards a development-driven approach for Kenya.
• He advocated for infrastructure projects like Koru–Soin dams and upgrading Kisumu International Airport to boost the regional economy and address flooding.
• Owalo also called for the revival of industries such as sugar, rice, and cotton, and the establishment of factories in the Nyanza region to promote value addition.
