Makadara MP George Aladwa has publicly dismissed political meetings convened by a faction within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) led by Secretary General Edwin Sifuna and Siaya Governor James Orengo. Aladwa accused these leaders of undermining party unity and attempting to "auction the party," particularly as it considers potential coalition talks, including with President William Ruto's United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

• Aladwa insists that all party matters, especially those concerning ODM’s future and coalition talks, must be discussed through established party structures and at the grassroots level, not in "hotels" or at "funerals."
• The dispute arises during a leadership transition period following the demise of party leader Raila Odinga, exposing tensions over who should guide the party.
• Siaya Senator Oburu Oginga, whom the party's governing body has endorsed to steer affairs during this transition, confirmed he has chaired all meetings related to broad-based engagements with President Ruto, emphasizing structured and transparent negotiations.
