Chuka University's Faculty of Law is among five law schools in Kenya currently operating with expired or pending licences from the Council of Legal Education (CLE).

• The CLE stated that Chuka University paid renewal fees but has not submitted all necessary documents, leaving its application under review after its licence expired on December 10, 2025.
• Other institutions with expired or pending licences mentioned include University of Nairobi (Parklands Campus), Moi University, Africa Nazarene University, and UMMA University.
• CLE CEO Prof. Busalile Mwimali warned that institutions operating without valid licences risk having their programmes declared unrecognised, which could jeopardize students' professional prospects.
