Irungu Nyakera, Nairobi patron of the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), alleges that President William Ruto is strategically weakening the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to restrict its influence to the Nyanza region and elevate his United Democratic Alliance (UDA) as the dominant political force in Kenya.

• Nyakera claims Ruto's strategy involves encouraging Coast leaders, including Mining Cabinet Secretary Hassan Joho, to leave ODM and form a new party to diminish ODM's regional dominance.
• Joho has affirmed his commitment to leading the Coast region and outlined a political roadmap that includes backing President Ruto for a second term.
• Nyakera also alleges that Ruto is promoting individuals within his camp to declare presidential bids, such as former Deputy Chief of Staff Eliud Owalo, to confuse and fracture the opposition.
• He warned against the government resorting to violence, stating that "Nobody has a monopoly on violence," and such actions could lead to escalating political confrontations.
