- The brothers claimed the land belonged to their late father, Kikenyi Ole Mpoe, using what investigators from the DCI's Land Fraud Investigations Unit (LFIU) determined to be a forged title grant.
- The suspects, identified as former farm managers on the disputed land, were granted bail of Ksh.2 million each with a surety of a similar amount, or an alternative cash bail of Ksh.1 million, after pleading not guilty to charges including conspiracy to commit a felony and forgery.
