Elon Musk's X announced that its Grok AI model will no longer permit the alteration of images of real people into revealing clothing in jurisdictions where such actions are illegal, following a significant backlash against sexualized AI deepfakes.

• The change was implemented after California’s top prosecutor initiated an investigation into the spread of sexualized AI deepfakes, including those involving children, generated by Grok.
• X stated it will now "geoblock the ability of all users to generate images of real people in bikinis, underwear, and similar attire via the Grok account and in Grok in X in those jurisdictions where it’s illegal."
• Only paid subscribers will retain the ability to edit images using Grok, aiming to add an "extra layer of protection" for accountability.
