A team of Kenyan university students has won the Stars of Innovation: U.S.-Kenya AI Challenge for developing 'MediBora', an AI-powered platform addressing maternal health challenges. This system provides continuous monitoring for expectant mothers, early risk alerts, and real-time communication with healthcare providers.

• The team comprised five members from various universities, majoring in teaching and medicine-related courses, including a software and security expert engineer, a business analyst, a data scientist, a biomedical engineer, and a software engineer.
• 'MediBora' was selected from more than 70 Kenyan students and young professionals who participated in the challenge.
• The platform is accessible via mobile apps, SMS, USSD, and voice channels, ensuring usability even in low-connectivity and low-literacy settings.
• The U.S. Embassy in Nairobi confirmed the win on Thursday, January 15, and has invited the team to an upcoming U.S. Embassy-supported competition in Nairobi, Nakuru, and Eldoret.
