The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) in Kenya held a joint National Planning Meeting on Friday, January 16, to prepare for the upcoming February 26 by-elections.

• The by-elections will fill four vacant elective positions: one Member of the National Assembly seat in Isiolo South Constituency, and County Assembly Ward seats in West Kabras (Malava Constituency), Evurore, and Muminji (Mbeere Constituency).
• Key aspects reviewed included data protection, human resource allocation, security, voter register integrity, training frameworks, and audit procedures to ensure a smooth, credible, and transparent electoral process.
• The IEBC emphasized early and coordinated planning to mitigate risks and build public trust, reaffirming its commitment to conducting by-elections in compliance with the Constitution and electoral laws.
