A recent Treasury report shows that State House and the Office of the Deputy President significantly overspent their budgets in the first half of the 2025/2026 fiscal year, contributing to over Ksh7 billion in combined excess expenditure.

State House overspent its recurrent expenditure by Ksh1.4 billion, releasing Ksh9.08 billion against an allocation of Ksh7.68 billion.
The Office of the Deputy President spent Ksh3.19 billion, exceeding its allocated Ksh2.97 billion.
The State Department for Special Programmes recorded a glaring overspend, using Ksh2.87 billion against an allocation of just Ksh488 million, nearly six times its budget.
Despite these overspends, total government revenue collection was Ksh2.17 trillion against estimates of Ksh4.43 trillion, with a closing exchequer balance of Ksh25.15 billion.
