A recent Treasury report shows that State House and the Office of the Deputy President significantly overspent their budgets in the first half of the 2025/2026 fiscal year, contributing to over Ksh7 billion in combined excess expenditure.
- State House overspent its recurrent expenditure by Ksh1.4 billion, releasing Ksh9.08 billion against an allocation of Ksh7.68 billion.
- The Office of the Deputy President spent Ksh3.19 billion, exceeding its allocated Ksh2.97 billion.
- The State Department for Special Programmes recorded a glaring overspend, using Ksh2.87 billion against an allocation of just Ksh488 million, nearly six times its budget.
