CAF President Patrice Motsepe has dismissed calls to relocate the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) from Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, despite concerns raised by Ivorian Journalist Mamadou Gaye regarding infrastructural challenges.

• Motsepe confirmed the commitment to hosting AFCON 2027 in the East African nations during a press conference in Morocco on Saturday, January 17.
• The decision underscores CAF's commitment to developing football infrastructure across Africa, citing the successful co-hosting of the African Nations Championships (CHAN) in August 2025 by the same countries as proof of their capability.
• The AFCON tournament will shift to a quadrennial format from 2032 onwards, with a "bridge" tournament in 2028, following consultations with FIFA to resolve scheduling conflicts.
