The Kenya Railways Corporation has announced the completion of rehabilitation works on the Uplands- Kijabe- Longonot corridor, damaged by heavy rains in April 2024. The route is now ready for freight transport, aiming to ease trade between Mombasa, Nyanza Region, and neighboring countries like Uganda, Rwanda, DRC, and South Sudan.

Rehabilitation works are 100 percent complete, with test rides confirming safety.
The Kenya Railways Corporation is finalizing slope protection works for long-term stability.
