The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has suspended 4 public transport companies for breaching road safety laws and violating traffic rules, with immediate effect. This action follows their non-compliance with safety regulations and involvement in fatal crashes during the December 2025 festive season.

• NTSA temporarily suspended the driving licenses of a total of 97 drivers across the implicated companies for 90 days due to speed violations, requiring a re-test.
• The suspended companies include Niko Sacco, Nanyuki Express Cab Services Ltd., Nakura Sacco, Naekana Route 134 Sacco Ltd., and an unnamed company involved in a January 6, 2026 accident at Kimende.
• The implicated companies were ordered to present vehicles with violations (ranging from 19 to 128 per company) for compliance inspections at various Motor Vehicle Inspection Centres.
