A Nairobi court has mandated that Mumias East MP Peter Salasya must issue a public apology and conduct a social media peace campaign before his hate speech case, filed by the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC), can be withdrawn. Senior Resident Magistrate Paul Mutai declined to adopt a conciliation agreement until Salasya fully complies with the outlined conditions.

Salasya is required to hold a joint, well-publicized press conference with NCIC and run a social media campaign promoting peace.
The conciliation agreement was signed on November 17, 2025, between Salasya and NCIC Secretary Dr. Daniel Ntegi Giti.
The case will be mentioned again on February 2 for an update and further directions regarding compliance.
