Rigathi Gachagua, leader of the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), claims that recent defectors to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) are moles for President William Ruto. His remarks come amidst a significant exodus of allies from his party, particularly in the Mt. Kenya region, ahead of the 2027 polls.

• Gachagua accused the UDA party of attempting to divide his party during a 3-day party leaders’ retreat in Kilifi county.
• The latest defection mentioned was Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi, who allegedly sought a direct nomination but was denied by the DCP.
• Notable defectors include Githunguri MP Gathoni wa Muchomba, former Nyeri town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu, and Maragwa legislator Mary Wamaua.
• Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga's attendance at a UDA grassroots leaders’ meeting has also raised questions about his allegiance.
