Kenyan doctors are finally set to receive a salary increment after protracted negotiations. The adjustment process is nearing completion, with key government agencies expected to finalize implementation by mid-February 2026 following a scheduled meeting.

• The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Union (KMPDU) confirmed that negotiations are ongoing between the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) and the Department of Public Service Management (DPSM) to develop an implementation framework for the agreed basic salary adjustment.
• The union rejected a proposal for a new multi-agency team, citing potential delays, and confirmed an agreed salary increment and arrears were adopted by courts in 2024.
• Doctors' salaries are expected to increase significantly, with entry-level doctors potentially earning up to Ksh 413,000 per month and interns up to Ksh 206,000 per month after adjustments.
