Kenya's Cabinet Secretary for Interior, Kipchumba Murkomen, is pushing for police reforms following numerous complaints of brutality. He assured Kenyans that the government will address misconduct and restore public confidence in law enforcement.

• Murkomen announced that police commanders have been directed to closely monitor officers accused of abuses, with those deemed unfit for duty due to mental health or alcohol addiction to be removed from active service.
• The CS also addressed increased maritime surveillance, particularly on Lake Victoria, due to the lake being used for smuggling illicit alcohol and drugs, pledging to rehabilitate 9 patrol boats and deploy approximately 200 new officers to the Kenya Coast Guard Service.
• Kenyan fishermen have reported harassment and theft of equipment by individuals from neighboring countries in Lake Victoria.
