Tea factories in Kenya have begun increasing the monthly payment for green leaf from Kshs. 25 to Kshs. 30 per kg following demands from farmers and a decision by the KTDA Holding Board. This increment aims to improve farmers' livelihoods and prevent them from selling their produce to private factories.

The new payment rate of Kshs. 30 per kg will be reflected in February 5th payments for January green leaf deliveries.
KTDA Holding Board is implementing the review following protests by growers last year.
Factories in Embu and Nyeri, including Kathangariri, Mungania, Rukuriri, Chinga, Gathuthi, Gitugi, Iria Ini, and Ragati tea factories, have already approved the increase.
