Transport Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir has warned that the government will terminate contracts for stalled road projects and reassign them to other contractors. This directive aims to address the issue of over 500 stalled projects nationwide, representing more than Ksh2 trillion in wasted investment.

• The government has managed to clear Ksh123 billion in road sector arrears by December 2024, reviving approximately 875 stalled road projects.
• The Transport Cabinet Secretary attributed some delays to pending bills, which peaked at Ksh525 billion by September 2025.
• The National Treasury allocated Ksh229 billion in the current budget to settle verified pending bills, with the road sector accounting for Ksh763 billion.
