The Consumers Federation of Kenya (COFEK) has expressed significant concern over the severe underfunding of the National Labour Board (NLB). This lack of financial support is threatening industrial stability and undermining workforce development across Kenya.

• The NLB has not met since April 2025 due to a complete lack of budgetary allocation.
• COFEK Secretary General Stephen Mutoro warned that the situation risks crippling productivity and undermining President William Ruto’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.
• The consumer lobby is urging the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection to urgently allocate resources and convene the Board, threatening legal and parliamentary action if the issue persists.
