A primary school teacher, Stephen Vundi Musili, was tragically killed in a suspected Al-Shabaab attack in Hulugho, Garissa County, having served just one year with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC). The militants also targeted a local chief and launched an attack on Hulugho Police Station.

Musili was employed by the TSC on January 2, 2025, and was killed on Monday, January 26.
The attack also killed Boma Location Chief Abdifatah Mohamud, whose vehicle was detonated.
The TSC, in coordination with other government agencies, will visit Hulugho Sub-County on January 27, 2026, to assess security.
