The Ministry of Agriculture has announced that macadamia harvesting and trade in Kenya will resume on February 1, following a three-month suspension. This decision comes after inspections confirmed that most macadamia nuts have reached physiological maturity.

• Macadamia trading was suspended from December 1, 2025, to allow nuts to mature and ensure export quality.
• Director General Bruno Linyiru of the Agriculture and Food Authority confirmed the lifting of the ban.
• Farmers are advised to harvest only mature nuts, especially in higher-altitude tea-growing zones where some nuts are still immature.
• Embu, Meru, and Kiambu are among the main macadamia-producing counties in Kenya.
