Galentine Care Ltd has launched an all-women-led sanitary pad factory in Homa Bay County, Kenya, aiming to combat period poverty and create employment. This initiative will produce high-quality sanitary pads at significantly reduced prices, boosting girls' education and women's economic empowerment.

• Pads will be sold for as low as KSh 50, up to 60% cheaper than market rates.
• The plant is located in Mbita and was opened by Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga.
• Homa Bay County recorded over 17,000 teenage pregnancies in 2024, with period poverty exacerbating vulnerability.
• At full capacity, the factory plans to expand from 17 skilled female employees to over 200 in three years, reaching 430,000 women nationwide.
