Mr. Nick Koriata, director of Mayfair Farms in Narok County, has built a thriving business breeding and selling purebred Dorper sheep and Red Kalahari goats. He imports these high-quality animals from South Africa to supply a growing demand in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, addressing a shortage of pure breeds in the region.

• Mayfair Farms imports approximately six containers of animals annually, with each container holding around 70 animals and costing over Sh4 million.
• A certified purebred ram can fetch as much as Sh300,000.
• Mr. Koriata plans to import semen from South Africa to further upgrade local livestock and he highlighted high feed costs and limited access to vaccines as major challenges for farmers in Kenya.
