Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja has ordered disciplinary action against six senior police officers following a viral video showing the assault of youths in a Nandi Hills pool hall on January 10, 2026. The officers, captured on CCTV footage, used batons and pool sticks to beat the youths.

• Six senior police officers, including the Sub-County Police Commander (OCPD) for Tinderet and Officers Commanding Stations (OCS) for Songhor and Nandi Hills, will face internal administrative action.
• The National Police Service expressed regret and vowed to take firm action, with the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) having investigated the incident, including forensic analysis of the DVR.
• Ten uniformed police officers in full combat gear were involved in the assault, which lasted approximately 10 minutes, leaving 15 youths injured and seeking medical attention and P3 forms.
