The World Health Organization (WHO) has confirmed an outbreak of the Nipah virus in India, prompting global health authorities to intensify disease surveillance. Two cases have been reported in India's West Bengal State.

• Over 190 people who had contact with the infected individuals are being closely monitored.
• Countries like Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam have reinforced airport screening.
