• The president's comments addressed an incident on Sunday, February 25, where a teargas cannister disrupted a church service in Othaya, Nyeri County, forcing Gachagua to flee.
• Ruto called on all security arms to shield places of worship from "unnecessary and retrogressive fights and politics," after Gachagua, Kalonzo Musyoka, and Martha Karua met with Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja on January 30 over the incident.
