Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, has officially designated a new police station and several police posts across Kenya to enhance security, as outlined in a January 30 gazette notice.

• A new police station, Kamuguga Police Station, has been established in Kiambu County.
• New police posts include Otongolo Police Post in Kisumu West, Mabera Police Station in Kuria West, Laghogol Police Post in Wajir West, Gataka Police Post in Kajiado North, and Thuura Police Post in Imenti East.
• The gazettement empowers these new stations to handle criminal investigations and detentions, unlike smaller police posts which focus on patrols and community policing.
