Kenyatta University has issued a stern warning against a circulating fake memo claiming a mandatory Ksh10,000 fee increase for the current semester. The university assured students and the public that the document is fraudulent and urged them to disregard its contents.

The fake memo demanded an additional Ksh10,000 payment and submission of school reports for semester 1, 2025/2026 by January 28.
Kenyatta University clarified that official communications are exclusively made via student email, the KU student portal, official social media pages, or the institution's website.
This announcement follows a commitment from Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba that there would be no university fee hike this year, with fees already rationalized by 15 to 40 per cent, ranging from Ksh5,800 to Ksh75,000.
