The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has issued a warning for Kenya, advising citizens to prepare for 28 days of sunny, dry, and hotter-than-average conditions amidst a prolonged dry spell. This arid weather is expected to continue until the "long rains" commence in March.

• Regions including Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Kericho, Nakuru, and Kiambu may experience isolated, brief showers, but these will not significantly alleviate the dry conditions.
• The current weather pattern is attributed to La Niña conditions and a negative Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD), which suppress rainfall.
• The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) and humanitarian organizations are urged to establish watering points for wildlife and livestock, and authorities are monitoring river catchment areas due to potential impacts on hydropower generation.
