A new Infotrak Research survey reveals that the majority of Kenyans, 64 per cent, have no connection to the government's Nyota Fund, despite claims of nationwide youth empowerment. This indicates a significant exclusion rate in the program aiming to provide business grants and training.

• The survey found a 75 per cent exclusion rate, with 64 per cent having no connection and 11 per cent rejected after applying.
• The National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (Nyota) project was launched on November 7, 2025, by President William Ruto, targeting 820,000 vulnerable youth with grants of up to Sh50,000.
• Regional disparities exist, with Coast region showing 78 per cent non-participation compared to 43 per cent in Western region. Only 25 per cent of respondents rate the application process as very transparent.
