The National Police Service (NPS) has clarified that criminal gangs, not always boda boda riders, are responsible for the recent burning of Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) during protests. This statement comes amidst a strike by matatu operators protesting the destruction of their vehicles.

• Over 21 vehicles have been torched in the last three months.
• Senior Superintendent of Police Boniface Otieno stated that investigations are ongoing, and three suspects have been arrested in connection with the Pangani vehicle-burning case.
• The strike by matatu operators was called after failed attempts to engage Transport Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir and other government agencies.
