A faction of Kiambu Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) allied to Governor Kimani Wamatangi claim they are facing intimidation and a plot to remove Speaker Charles Thiongo to facilitate an impeachment motion against the Governor.

• Speaker Charles Thiongo reported to Kiambu Police Station that unknown individuals visited his private residence on January 21, seeking him out.
• The Speaker and his lawyer, Kariuki Njiri, expressed concern for his family's safety and demanded the DCI investigate a colleague suspected of being behind the plot.
• Kiuu Ward MCA Zacharia Macharia stated that over 50 MCAs firmly support Governor Wamatangi, indicating an impeachment motion would not pass.
• The pro-Wamatangi faction issued a seven-day ultimatum for security agencies to investigate the incidents, including reports of shots fired near the Governor’s residence.
