Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has announced the deployment of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) and National Intelligence Service (NIS) alongside the National Police Service to combat banditry and cattle rustling in Isiolo, Laikipia, Samburu, and Meru Counties. This multi-agency operation, ordered by President William Ruto, aims to restore security and will reopen previously closed roads to facilitate operations.

• Security chiefs have been instructed to crack down on officers abetting insecurity, with Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja initiating transfers of long-serving officers.
• The deployment comes two weeks after Murkomen announced KDF deployment for the 740km Isiolo-Mandera road construction.
