A Turkish tycoon, Osman Erdinc Elsek, was charged in a Mombasa court with terrorism-related counts, including membership in Harakat Al Shabaab Mujahideen. His co-accused, Gokmen Sandikci, was charged with consorting with a person in possession of a firearm.

• Elsek was accused of recording videos at the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU) Mombasa police station for alleged terrorist acts and possessing a Glock pistol in Kilifi South.
• The prosecution, led by Counsel Barbara Sombo, requested the suspects deposit their passports with the court.
• Elsek was released on a Ksh.1 million bond with a surety of a similar amount, while Sandikci was granted a Ksh.500,000 surety bond with an alternative cash bail of Ksh.200,000.
• The pretrial date for the case is set for February 19, 2026.
