Busia Governor Paul Otuoma was interrogated by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) regarding allegations of corruption and theft of Ksh.1.4 billion in public funds within the county. The investigation stems from public and Senate complaints concerning revenue diversion and procurement fraud.

• Ksh.1.4 billion is the total amount under scrutiny for alleged irregular tender awards to 26 proxy companies.
• Governor Otuoma was grilled at the EACC’s Western Regional Offices in Bungoma.
• Ksh.90 million was allegedly paid to four private entities, including Baya Farmcare Limited and Leokiz Investment Limited, reportedly linked to Governor Otuoma and his family.
• The EACC is also investigating the irregular leasing of public land for the Busia Trailer Park Yard project, which was leased to M/s Athi Limited for 25 years at an annual rent of Ksh.1.4 million.
• Several county officials, including Finance CEC Topister Wanyama and Lands CEC Peter Odima, were targeted in previous search operations.
