Onafriq has partnered with The Pan-African Payment and Settlement System (PAPSS) to launch Africa's first wallet-based Naira cross-border payments service from Nigeria to Ghana, facilitating instant transactions without hard currency conversion. This pilot, approved by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), aims to boost intra-African trade, especially benefiting SMEs.
- The service became fully operational on December 1st for a 6-month period.
- Onafriq provides access to over 1 billion mobile wallets, while PAPSS connects over 160 commercial banks and 400 million bank accounts across 19 African countries.
- Managing Director Anglophone West Africa Mxolisi Msutwana stated this collaboration "shows what collaboration at scale can unlock."
